Based on a true story, this is a simple, sweet love story. However it seemed unreal due to the lack of details. I have not read any of Lawrence`s other books, so I don't know if this is different from his typical writing style. Since it is the story of the author's friends, I imagine it would necessitate a change in style. At any rate, I was left with a feeling of a fairy tale,no real depth. I would recommend this book for young adults up. There is unapologetic premarital sex, which takes it off the list for a young teenager, but an enjoyable read otherwiseProduct details

Being a retired military SGT who met his life long love of 63 years on arrival at an Air Force Base I completely enjoyed this book. The book describes two young people who instantly fail in love. Their deep love for each other is described without all of the intimate details. I would enjoy reading other books of this nature.

This is about the romance between a soldier and a nurse during the Vietnam War. Though based on fact names and detals have been changed to protect the privacy of the couple.
Wow! what a romantic love story. Section 4 "A Spark and a Flame" is wonderful. A beautifully crafted love story and that too in a war situation.

This is a short novella about a young airman who is sent to Thailand during the Vietnam War. At the air base, he meets Amy and wins her heart in just a few days. He is wounded in action and sent to Hawaii, before she can declare her love for him. It is a sweet story and I recommend it.
I downloaded this book and planned to read at a later date. I made the mistake of reading just a little. I was immediately engrossed in the story. It is a wonderful love story and an interesting look into the lives of the military people in Vietnam. The fact that it was based on a real-life story made it that much more real and extraordinary. Phillip has done a great job with this book.
What a lovely and touching novel this turned out to be! I must say that I did not expect to be engaged in this novel at all as I've never been particularly fond of reading about the Vietnam war and the like. However, I really like the dialogues and the way the story panned out. The flow of the story was very smooth sailing and the descriptions were apt in conveying the emotions of the characters to a reader like me. All in all, I think this is a story worth reading on an idyllic day or over a casual weekend!
