What does an author want to do? They want readers to buy their books and first, they need to take a shot at the golden ring...of yesteryear...a New York City publisher.
At a recent Books Alive 2013 conference, more scores of folks showed up to get an interview with one or more of a dozen of America's top agents in hopes of landing a big publisher.
This brief article is about how they mobbed a panel of authors talking about publishing and marketing their books.
Notice My Book eBook Ken Rossignol
In just five pages, the author provides us a brief hint as to how indepent, self-published, writers can succeed in their chosen craft.I hope he will take some time to show us some of the tricks he has used or to at least explain what he has found that didn't work.
What he does well, though, is explain to use how one writer thought outside the box. He also takes a jab at a writer 'snob' who seems intent on belittling the independents.
Personally, I think Rossignol tapped into something of key value with his point about small business and publishing. Our industry is big enough to share ground with everybody.
If there were more case studies this could be a five star review.
For now, though, this is a four star review.
Comments regarding your opinion of this book or of my review, whether favorable or unfavorable, are always welcome. If you buy the book based on my review and become disappointed, especially, I do want to know that and I want to understand how I can improve as a book reviewer. Just please be polite.
Thank you.

Notice My Book eBook Ken Rossignol Reviews
I gave this article 4 stars, only because I would like to see a lengthier dissertation on this subject by the author (hint, hint). He does speak from the heart of an "indie author", straightforwardly and with, what are the most important considerations that stand before us (yes, "us" -- I am among the independents, who market their eBooks and books). Can we succeed if we will simply recognize that our written works are our own "small bushiness", that we must develop and promote -- as the author of this article has so efficiently pointed out? The answer is obviously "yes" and it is incumbent on authors to pursue their own success. The big, traditional publishers, may or may not obtain high success for their authors and it is usually only a select few who actually see it (respectfully, that falls under the definition of a "crapshoot"). Indies have an advantage, in that their success is not a one-shot, promotional push for their written work but rather an ongoing push, that they need to find creative methods for accomplishing. I love the story Ken Rossignol relates in this article about the "Novelade Stand" of Jennifer Miller (Way to go Jen!). Yes, most authors who wish to go with traditional big publishers, will see those "rejection letters" but as Ken also says in this article " and Mark Coker of Smashwords, do get it" (the alternative to traditional publishers). I also loved the ironic observation Ken points out about the luxurious Marriot location of the Books Alive conference, which started decades earlier, from a root beer stand of the hotel-chain founder (Pretty amazing indie-promotion example I would say!).
